Issue 4. October 2026. Morris N. Eagle

Construction Worker
He moves forward slowly
Defying the wind to quicken his pace
His langorous arms move up and down
And hold it in submission
White Collar Worker
He moves forward quickly
Pushed by a silent wind
His choppy arms move up and down
Hurling petulances in the air
Morris N. Eagle, PhD
Morris is a psychologist and psychoanalyst renowned for his significant contributions to our understanding of human behavior and the therapeutic process. He is a professor emeritus of the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. At 97, Morris says that writing poetry brings him a sense of gratitude and joy unlike any other form of writing: "I am able to write a poem only when some experience has moved me deeply." Morris further shares, "Although I read poetry, I have a good deal of difficulty due to what I experience as the inaccessibility of much contemporary poetry."
Editorial Note
Beneath the workers’ movement under different winds, a parallel can be discerned in this poem with our movement through life, shaped by the forces that determine our direction.
