Call for Poems

Aubades accepts poetry submissions throughout the year. Our first Poem of the Month will be released in July 2026, marking the beginning of our monthly publication series.

To understand the spirit of the journal, please read our preferred themes before submitting.

Requirements

• Aubades publishes one poem each month in the Poem of the Month series. We seek unpublished poems and invite contributors to submit multiple pieces, which enables us to evaluate their work more fully.
• Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify us immediately if your poem is accepted elsewhere.
• By submitting your work, you confirm that you have read and agree to the Submission Guidelines available on this page at the time of submission.

How to Submit

Please submit your work, together with a brief biographical note, as a Word document to:

Response Time

We review all submissions with gratitude, but publication is selective and follows a careful review process. If you do not hear from us within six weeks, please assume we were unable to include your work. We warmly encourage you to continue submitting in the future.

Honorarium

Each contributor whose work is selected will receive an honorarium of 50 Canadian dollars through PayPal, regardless of the number of poems accepted. This modest honorarium is an expression of our gratitude for your creative work.

Publication Schedule

We publish one poem each month.

Accepted poems are placed in a monthly publication queue. At the time of acceptance, poets will be informed of the scheduled publication month for each accepted poem. When a poet has multiple accepted poems, they may be spaced across successive issues rather than published consecutively.

Rights & Copyright

By submitting to Aubades, contributors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, display, distribute, and disseminate their work online and in associated archival formats. Copyright remains with the contributors. Authors retain the right to republish their work elsewhere after publication without seeking permission from Aubades. We appreciate acknowledgment of Aubades as the original place of publication.
